Consulting .:. Design & Code .:. Due Diligence

Technical due diligence uncovers risks and provides insight into whether the software technology and team you are buying will meet your business goals. Our independent evaluation gives you the information you need while isolating you from intellectual property risks if the deal does not go through.

Construx's evaluation of code, system architecture, software design, technology, and development capability provide the information you need to make a solid business decision. We field a small team of senior consultants who have both deep technical knowledge and business management experience. Our approach employs a combination of tools, reviews, and interviews.

We work quickly (most engagement are 1-3 weeks long) to iteratively provide you with information on:
  • Meaningful breakdowns of system size and technologies
  • Cataloging third-party dependencies and the use of open source software
  • Characterizing the effort required to modify the system to support new functionality
  • System overview diagrams and descriptions
  • Identifying scalability risks and architectural strengths that support scalability
  • Operational procedures, data center practices, defect/incident analysis
  • Security and privacy risks
  • Sophistication and robustness of internal algorithms and data models
  • Internationalization, portability, testability, usability or other quality attributes
  • Quantitative and qualitative metrics and analysis of design and code maintainability
  • Coding practices including factoring, abstraction, commenting, naming, automated testing, etc.
  • Answering other specific technical questions

We have significant software due diligence experience across a wide array of platforms (including Windows, Linux, and embedded software), many business domains (startup search engines to telecommunication providers), and most current programming languages and technologies. We have completed over 100 technical reviews and know how to handle sensitive software code and intellectual property.
